Not just 12 signs...

Most people argue that how can the whole humanity be divided into just 12 signs (Aries, Taurus, Gemini etc.). Actually as per Vedic Astrology, the division are far more than that, possibly the reason why we have so many different kinds of people. How? Just see the stats below:

Signs - 12
Houses - 12
Nakshatras (Constellations) - 27
Each Nakshatra has 4 divisions called padas.
Hence, at least total number of variations can be
12*12*27*4 = 15552

Now, for every degree of movement of earth the planets shift their positions. Consider Moon. It will hence traverse 180 degree East and West of GMT, with total of 360 degrees. Multiplying this with above figure, we get = 5598720. And this multiplication must be done for all planets. I am not going to do that. Hence we have these many types of people in the world. Start counting...

Results of a Mahadasha

Everyone at anytime is running a mahadasha, or major period of a planet and may be about to start a mahadasha of another planet. It is not easy to judge what results a coming mahadasha can bestow a native. First let us look at the total time periods of all mahadashas:

Planet Mahadasha Period
Sun 6 years
Moon  10 years
Mars 7 years
Rahu 18 years
Jupiter 16 years
Saturn 19  years
Mercury 17 years
Ketu 7 years
Venus 20 years

When a child is born, she is actually running a mahadasha of some planet. A mahadasha is further divided into antadasha (sub-period) and pratyantardasha(sub-sub period) periods of planets. While judging a mahadasha we must consider the following:
1. The position of planet (house and rashi) in D1.
2. The position of planet (house and rashi) in D9 (helps in understanding judging the happiness/satisfaction from one's partner and spiritual propensity)
3. The position of planet (house and rashi) in D10 (when judging the career during the mahadasha)
4. The position of planet (house and rashi) in D3 (when judging happiness/satisfaction in general.
5. The position of planet (house and rashi) in D60 (the chart of previous life and sanchit karma)
6. Whether the planet is friendly to ascendant or not.
7. One thing could be very important is Mahadasha of Naksthatra ascendant. If you are going through or started the mahadasha of planet of nakshatra lord under which you are born, then it could be a life changing mahadasha. It can bring in the 'Self-Realization' phase in your life. For example someone born under ascendant of Sun (Leo) might have ascendant nakshatra as Magha (ruled by Ketu), Purva Phalguni (ruled by Venus) or Uttara Phalguni (Sun). Hence, if the person has Leo ascendant and Magha as ascendant Nakshtra, then the mahadasha of Ketu will be mahadasha of greater change in life, leadering to movement towards higher goals indicated by Ketu, such as emancipation.

Obviously, if a planet is in its highest position in any of the charts then it will give better than average results. But, it may happen that a planet is exalted in D1, but debilitated in D9 or D60. Then it means that the mahadasha will not give that good results.I had read that in general a mahadasha lord if enemy of ascendant lord will give bad results, specially if badly placed. But, I have witnessed that if the same planet was well placed in D60 (in center in own house) gave good results. Also, the planets give results as per their intrinsic nature.
1. Jupiter, Venus, brigher Moon (Moon in shukla paksha) and non-afflicted Mercury being a beneficial planets, will give good results as per their placement.
2. Sun, Saturn, Mars, Rahu, Ketu tend to give some struggles to native due to their intrinsic malefic character.
Also, if any of these planets are with one or more benefics, their strength to give good results increases. On the similar lines, if the mahadasha lord is with a malefic planet, its tendency to give bad results/struggles increases. If a planet is giving a Rajyoga (Neecha bhang rajyoga, Viparit rajyoga, Mahalakshmi yog etc.) in D1 chart, and is present in D10 chart with a malefic in 10th house, the native is destined to rise further in her career, but after a lot of struggle.

The struggle is alleviated, if the planet is with a benefic. Also, the planet's location gives its major results. Examples:
1. A mahadasha of planet located in 12th house will give results with respect to the 12th house significations and the houses the planet rules. Mars in Leo for Virgo ascendant, will give results with respect significations of 12th house, 3rd house (Scorpio) and 8th house (Aries).
2. Mars in Virgo for Aquarius ascendant will give results primarily with respect to 8th house, 3rd house (Aries) and 10th house (Scorpio).

Again, while judging we must consider associations, aspects and exchanges and various divisional charts when judging the mahadasha.A small note on how to judge an antardasha - In general consider, the location of antardasha planet with respect to mahadasha planet. If the antardasha planet is in center (located 1,4,7,10) or kona (1,5,9) with respect to mahadasha planet, then the antardasha planet will give good results. While on the whole mahadasha lord will keep focus on houses it rules and where it sits, for smaller periods (antardasha planet) the focus will accordingly shift to houses rules by antardasha planets and where they sit.For more details on houses see the following links.

The links can tell where your focus is currently depending on mahadasha and antardasha:

The Human Mind...2

When the Moon, Mercury and Jupiter are strong and are favourably placed in a chart, the native will definitely have sound mind, sharp intellect, healthy reasoning and mature wisdom. If they are not well placed (placed in 3rd, 6th, 8th or 12th from ascendant) or are afflicted by a malefic planet such as Sun, Mars, Saturn, Rahu, Ketu then there could be chances of the native not having the mental faculty well balanced as indicated by the planet.

For example - In case of above afflictions to Moon, the person can become highly imaginative, or paranoid, or depressive.

In case of Mercury, the native can lack intellectual balance, be nervous and lack general public behavior.

In case of Jupiter, the person can lack wise decision making skills and any propensity towards higher learning or traditions. The person can also display inability to take wise decisions and implement them.

The Human Mind...1

The natural significant of mind as addressed in earlier posts is the Moon. Besides the moon, the planets that can signify the working of human mind are Mercury and Jupiter. The role of all three planets is described below:

The Moon - It's strength or weakness reflects how a person's mind normally functions. It indicates the person's feelings, attachments with worldly affairs and how a person respond emotionally. It also tells how much a person will be mentally compatible to other people in general. That's why people with strong moons are socially very active.

The Mercury - It is the planet of reason, rationality, logic and intelligence for a native. It also indicates a person's academic inclination and business and practical knowledge. Most successful business people have strong mercury. It also indicates a native's complexes.

The Jupiter - This planet signifies wisdom, higher knowledge, maturity and hope. Mostly people with very sound higher spiritual knowledge have a strong Jupiter. Such people have strong inclination towards reading and books.

Accidents...3

Following factors can also indicate an accident in a chart:

1. If Ketu is debilitated it can give heart related ailment. Ketu is debilitated in Gemini (some texts say it is Taurus).
2. If Jupiter is with Mars in Taurus, Gemini, Virgo or Libra, it can cause a heart related operation.
3. Saturn, Mars and Ketu when conjunct in 8th house can give an accident on the road while traveling.
4. Moon and Rahu in Gemini, Libra or Aquarius under the aspect of Mars can cause problem when the native is in air.
5. The master of 8th, Rahu in 12th house under aspect of Mars may cause accident in air.

All the above combinations that have been described above must be considered after noting the aspect/conjunction of benefics/yogkarakas/friends with the ascendant lord and/or the combination described.

Special Aspects of Outer Planets...7

In case of special aspects sometimes the planet might be present in the house of the planet whom it is influencing. Following is a valid example:

In this case Mercury is under Jupiter's 5th aspect and Mars' 8th aspect. Both of them are located in Mercury owned houses. Hence such a person will be technically very sound with and very pleasing personality and would have taken higher studies for sure in his/her life. This person must be very tactical at his/her work place too!

Another example: if Jupiter aspects Moon present in Scorpio when Jupiter is in Cancer (owned by Moon),  both the planets will aspect each other equally.

Bad health indicators...4

If the Moon is not well placed, general bad health condition is indicated. Note the following:

a) Moon is debilitated or/and
b) Moon is in enemy's home or/and
c) Moon is lacking in paksha bal or/and
d) Moon is with with malefic planets before and after it.

Moon lacks the paksha bal by being close to Sun. It means that it must be as further from Sun as possible and possibly with a benefic planet. Moon has least paksha bal when it is the new moon day. As you will realize a healthy mind promotes healthy body and it has been endorsed by our elders since long time. And the moon indicates the mind. For a good/healthy mind, well, if you have been reading my blog, you know that your Moon must be strong and well placed. If not well, you can read the below posts for some help:

Good Health Indicators...4

One of the songs that I found on Internet which is good for meditation, if heard in low volume:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_M-xt__4XY

Following are also indicators of good health:

1. Moon and its association - If Moon is strong and without any malefic planet and only with benefic planets, good health in general is assured. If Moon has 2 benefic planets around it, the health will be better. You must  have heard the term, good mind drives good health, hence this formation!

2. Malefic planets in 3, 6 and 11 - These 3 houses, in general denote bad houses. But malefics, when present in these houses make the native stronger, capable of fighting with diseases, and give good immune system.

3. Strong Atmakaraka - Atmakaraka, is the planet in your chart which has advanced most degrees in its location or house where it is present. If the atmakaraka is exalted or in own house, it will be strong, hence assuring good health.

4. Strengh of Sun - Sun is naturally signifies your physical health. Hence, if is strong in your chart, it will promote your health.

Actually Moon is a benefic planet, and in the coming posts you will come to know how important are other benefic planets too, specially as far as health is concerned. So, to start I can say one thing if your ascendant is strong also the Lord of ascendant and Lord of 6th house, you are too lucky! More to come...

The Houses of your Vedic chart...House 4

The fourth house is the 4th from ascendant when counted anti-clockwise. If the master of 4th house is present in exaltation or in own house, specially if in center (1,4,7,10) or in trine (1,5,9), it will give native good results. The 2nd house is also called the Matra Sthan (the house of mother). If the master of 4th house is good, the person will have great support from his/her mother. The native will also be attached to his/her mother. In addition, if Moon is also good the bond between the native and his/her mother will be stronger. For this sake, Moon must be exalted (in Taurus), in own house (Cancer), in the 4th house and/or the 10th house.

The 4th house mostly signifies the following:

1. The mother of native
2. Immovable property such as house etc.
3. Vehicles
4. Material comforts
4. Chest, lungs, heart, diaphragm
5. Basic education
6. Ability to sing, dance and enjoy music

During the dasa, antardasa of the Lord of 4th house, you will see the above significations of the 4th house, taking prominence in your life.

The Houses of your Vedic chart...ascendant...2

The ascendant is considered most important house in a birth chart. The strength of ascendant and its Lord is considered utmost important when determining general success in life. A person with strong ascendant will be bold and very strong in keeping his opinions/views etc. If the ascendant lord is exalted or in own house the person will be strong physically. He will have success depending upon location of ascendant lord.

In general the ascendant signifies the following:
1. Your physical existence or your body.
2. Your will power.
3. Your physical strength.
4. Your physical beauty.
5. Your head and hair.
6. Brain, appearance, skin, sleep, longevity
7. Freedom from ill-health, longevity and old age
8. Ability to perform work

The ascendant must be considered a temple and hence the planets present in it must be considered deities of the temple. An inimical planet (planet that is malefic for the Lagna) must, preferably be not present in the ascendant. Following is the list of planets that are ascendants and the planets that are malefics/benefics to it:

Lagna Benefics Malefics
Aries (Mesha) Sun, Jupiter Mercury, Venus, Saturn
Taurus (Vrish) Sun, Saturn Moon, Jupiter
Gemini (Mithun) Venus Mars, Jupiter
Cancer (Karka) Moon, Mars, Jupiter Mercury, Venus
Leo (Sinha) Sun, Mars, Jupiter Mercury, Venus, Saturn
Virgo (Kanya) Mercury, Venus Moon, Jupiter, Mars
Libra (Tula) Mercury, Venus, Saturn Sun, Mars, Jupiter
Scorpio (Vrishchik) Moon, Mars, Jupiter Mercury, Venus, Saturn
Sagittarius (Dhanu) Sun, Mars, Jupiter Venus
Capricorn (Makar) Mercury, Venus Moon, Mars, Jupiter
Aquarius (Kumbh) Mercury, Venus, Saturn Sun, Mars, Jupiter
Pisces (Meen) Moon, Mars, Jupiter Sun, Mercury, Venus, Saturn

The planets that are present in ascendant will deliver their properties to the ascendant and hence influence the  native. For example, presence the Venus in ascendant will always make a native lover of beauty in general and also give the native a bent towards arts, similarly, Saturn will make native pessimistic and Sun will always keep the native in limelight. Hence, while judging a chart we must keep in mind these factors, besides the above malefic/benefic planets.

Moon and Medicines

No...I am not going to discuss the remedies for Moon out here or any medicines associated thereof. I just wanted to tell that Moon is one planet which gives natural inclination towards chemistry and chemicals. And chemicals (natural and man-made) are used for making medicines. Someone who has a good Moon, preferably in first house or 10th house will give the native a propensity towards medicines/chemicals. A person with good moon will always be good in Chemistry and Biology (specially Botany). If Jupiter is involved the medicines will mostly be natural and the native will be involved in chemistry of natural substances. For example a doctor of Ayurvedic medicines will have a good Moon, Jupiter and may be Sun too. If Saturn get involved with Moon or aspects it, the native will have inclination towards Homeopathy, Allopathy etc. That's why in a doctor's chart, these 3 planets must form a combination. Mercurians (people with Virgo and Gemini ascendant) have a strong inclination towards profession of doctors. Now, if Mars also comes along to play some role, the doctor will become a good Surgeon too.

On the whole for becoming a doctor, you need to have a good Moon, Saturn, Jupiter (ensuring higher education) and Mercury (Mercury will also help in cracking the competition).

The Moon...Affirmatives...3

5. A carefree attitude to life - Awesome! Who wants that? Everyone, right? A free mind with no worries. No fear about anything in this world! Well this mostly happens when Moon combines with Jupiter in a friendly sign, specially if it close to full Moon! Believe me, most lucky people are only those who have a cool mind, which does not have worries. I have seen people who have Moon in Cancer with such an attitude. Actually if you believe in the almighty and have decided to leave everything to God, you will tend to be like this. Because you know whatever happens is God's will, so why worry. But it is not easy to have such a mind. Our minds are not conditioned in that fashion. Actually this is the way the Bhagwadgeeta works. It slowly instills in you that everything is done by Lord Krishna, and believe me more you believe in that book, more you will feel that your mind is getting lighter, that's why I have said so many times that reading this particular book does wonders. So when are you starting on making yourself carefree? I mean reading the Geeta? Just try this experiment, if it is negative tell me. I am all ears.

Note that being cool-minded is one thing and being careless is other. There is a thin line between the two and only spirituality can help you in not-crossing this line.

Also note that in Vedic Astrology we have Moon sign. It is evident from the above points that Moon actually governs our mind and hence it gives you the traits of the planet's sign in which it is present. E.g. if present in Aries it fills your mind with adventures, if in Capricorn it will give you a propensity towards public service, if in Gemini it will make you talkative and also interested in books, in Cancer it makes you very social, in Leo it gives you royal outlook etc etc. So, strengthening moon is extremely important because it improves your mind and hence it encourages you to take those things seriously that might belong to your moon sign.

The Moon...Affirmatives...2

2. Luck - A person will be lucky in general. Now, this does not mean that you will get everything in your life and that you will be Bill Gates, no! But you will yourself feel that something intervened and something that was not coming to you easily, actually just came in front of you suddenly.

3. Social Life - The person will have lots of friends. Now this also depends upon the sign and the nakshatra (the constellation) in which Moon is present. For example, a person has moon in Leo, the person will have royal outlook to life. If Moon is in Sagittarius (but not in Mool nakshatra), the person will have an adventurous outlook and will have interest in books in general. Being said the the Leo guy will have friends from upper strata of society, while the Sagi guy will have friends from all stratus of society. Moon must be good in paksha bal too. Besides this a person with a good Moon will be capable of becoming a public figure easily. If a person is born on full Moon specially, that person can convince people to his whims easily. That person will have the ability to perform in public without a hitch.

4. Water loving - A good moon will make a person love water. Yes, they will love rain, rivers, sights of seas etc. However, if moon is present in Mars's sign - Aries and Scorpio, the person might well be averse to water bodies. Why? Well Mars is fiery sign, and what can destroy fire? Right, it's water. There might be some compensation if Jupiter comes to rescue of his great friend Moon.

The Moon...Affirmatives...1

Methinks I have talked negative enough about Moon. The reason is that most people have a weak moon. May be because most of us have become selfish. A person with a good Moon will always be selfless and very social person, always ready to help others and that too without expecting anything in return. How many of  you know such people? Following are some of the trait a person will have who has a good Moon (please remember that one or more of these qualities might be present in a person along with negative traits that come from a weak moon, so this is a very subjective discussion that how weak/strong a person's moon is, so take care):

1. The person will be very attached to his/her mother. This is the trait of people who have Moon in 4th house. If Jupiter combines the relationship is very strong and the person will share a lot with his/her mother. The relationship is NOT one way. The mother will be equally responsive. She will be more like a friend than a parent. So, in case you have your Moon in 4th (even though it is in Mars's sign - Aries or Scorpio), and you don't feel attached to your mother - it's high time that you start regretting it. You desperately needs your mother's blessings to raise the peace of mind and whatever your need in your life. Now is the time. It does not mean only a 4th house Moon gives good relationships with mother. Whenever Moon is that of full Moon, along with or aspected by Matrakaraka planet, you will have a good mother. Besides this a Jupiter-Mars combination gives an understanding mother.

Moon Remedies...Revisited

Please go through the following links to know more about moon and remedies to strengthen it:

Also, the following post contains the various problems what a person can face if the Moon lacks in strength:

Moon primarily is a sattvik planet. The remedies that do not involve spiritual bent actually will just strengthen your moon. Actually Moon needs to be with your Jupiter. The best combination that you can get in a chart is that of Moon in first own house with Jupiter (exalted). It would be better if the Moon is a full Moon or it is at 90 degrees with respect to Sun. Such a combination is capable of warding of any evil that would come on your way.

So, if you are serious to strengthen your Moon, please also strengthen your Jupiter. So in that case the best remedy will be to read the Geeta. It makes one's mind passive, fast. Also, avoid indulging in any sort of politics and be righteous. Be social, be honest, and believe everyone (I know it's hard, I still am trying to be like that). Accept your fault. Say sorry. Control your speech. Don't be arrogant. All these qualities will actually make you a humble person, yet extremely successful in the long run. The most successful people in fact are most humble.

I am enlisting the remedies of Moon again as below:

1) Drink water in silver vessel. Drink lots of water.
2) Wear a Silver chain in your neck with spherical silver pendant.
3) Use good amount of water for bathing.
4) Wear whites on Mondays.
5) Offer Saptadhanya to birds.
6) Try out Chandra Tratak - continuous gazing at moon. If possible chant 'Om Namah Shivay' or any Chandra mantra.
7) Read the ShrimadBhagwadGita.
8) Worship Lord Shiva. Offer water to Lord Shiva on Mondays. Chant the Shiv
Pachakshar Strota.
9) Except for those who have exalted Moon (in Taurus), you can lend milk to small kids on Mondays
10) Have lots of juices. Give water to citrus plants.
11) Do not waste water.

Also for strengthening Jupiter, do the following:

1. Find a Guru or make someone a Guru in your life and seek His guidance. That person must be someone who can guide you spiritually. Be in His presence, and serve Him. The more the blessings of a Guru you have  , more is the probability is that your Ju is getting balanced.

2. If by any chance, you do not find anyone, make Lord Krishna as your guide. It was He who guided Arjun through the battlefield of Kurukshetra when he was confused in delivering his duties. Now this actually means  to follow the Bhagwad Geeta, read it daily and try to assimilate its teachings in your daily life. Lord Shiva is also considered Guru. He is the master of the Spiritual world, which lies just above the Material world, in which we mortals exist.

3. Read literature, healthy literature. It is best if it is spiritual text such as ShriRamCharitManas, Bhagwad Geeta, Koran, Bible or Zend Avesta. It must be something that must help an individual grow.

4. Teach, be a guide yourself. Explain things to people. Teach kids. Distribute your knowledge to others. Indulge in healthy discussions with others, related to the community/society improvement and spirituality.

5. Avoid politics; don't indulge in politics of any sort. Don't conspire against anyone. Be away from any such elements who indulge in politics.

6. Be humble. Most humble people have best of Ju in their charts. Learn to say sorry, even if it is not your fault. Leave your ego and arrogance.

7. Respect elders and people of greater age. Touch their feet and take their blessings more often.

8. Wear a haldi (turmeric) and/or kesar (saffron) tilak on your forehead daily.

9. On Thursdays worship Tulsi plant. Put a spoon of milk in its roots.

10. Worship the milder form Lord Vishnu, viz... Lord Ram or Lord Krishna on Thursdays. Since Ju is signifies kids too. many people have problems related to children too because if weak Ju. The best they can do is worship the Lord in their child form. E.g. do tratak with the Lord when He is in His mother's lap. E.g. Lord Krishna in Maa Yashoda's lap. For girls, who want healthy and obedient children, this is the first step towards their motherhood. And they must look at the Lord in the manner they themselves are Yashoda Maa!!!

11. Do upwas on Ekadashi tithi (11th day on brighter half moon month).

12. Avoid having salt on Thursdays. Have grains only once a day. Prepare flour halwa, which must be sweet and have it with your first finger. Put Tulsi leaves in that halwa preparation and offer to the Lord before having it.

13. Visit temples or places of worship, more often than ever. Sit there and feel the energy and sanctity of that place.

14. Donate books (specially spiritual) to people. Develop your own library of books.

15. Donate yellow clothes to your Guru on Thursday. Donate yellow sweets to your Guru or any elderly person on Thursdays.

16. Feed cows with wheat flour, gram and jaggery (gurh) on Thursdays.

17. Donate land/property/money for the development of places of worship.

18. If your ascendant is governed by Venus (Taurus or Libra), avoid having excess Haldi (turmeric). Instead donate it. Also, avoid having bananas much, donate them too. Plant a banana tree and water it daily.

Moon and Mental Disorders...6

10. Obsessive compulsive disorder - This is also a mental disorder. And this happens most of the time when people become obsessed with themselves. It happens mostly when Moon is very powerful (due to Paksha bal, as it is just opposite the Sun) but completely alone, without aspect of any benefic or any benefic in same or in adjacent houses. Such people, might be people's people but in fact they want the limelight a lot. They become egotists. The problem becomes severe when Sun is also weak. They would like to click their own snaps and change them again and again or share with friends and they do that very often. They want to be pampered. If the Moon under aspect of a malefics, this problem becomes more severe and may lead to Obsessive compulsive personality disorder.

11. Schizophrenia - it is a mental disorder characterized by a breakdown of thought processes and by poor emotional responsiveness. The native suffers with delusions and illusions and hallucinations. All the above indicated combinations when combined with other malefic aspects and conjunctions, produce such mental disorders. Following are some of the  combinations which designate natives suffering with schizophrenia:

a) Debilitated Moon (in Scorpio) in 1,5,9 house along with Ma, Saturn or Rahu/Ketu. This might get a relief if Jupiter is in center with respect with Moon and Venus gives neecha bhanga (cancelation of debilitation) to Moon, by being in houses 1,4,7,10.
b) Moon and Mercury in Scorpio in first house. Note that in such a case Moon will lack the paksha bal too (because Mercury is never more than 28 degrees away from Sun, hence Sun will be close to Moon, so Moon will have lesser Paksha bal).
c) Debilitated Moon occurs in 12th house along with Saturn.
d) Saturn in house 1, Jupiter in house 12, Mars and Moon in 1,5, 9 house.

There are many more combinations but they depend on other planets, and not just Moon, for example - Mercury when under influence of Mars, Saturn and Rahu in 12th house can give mild hallucinations. If any of the above are also true, the person will actually loose control of his brain. One more thing to notice here is that I have not listed the beneficial effects of the combinations, for example, Moon+Ketu gives awesome intuition abilities. If this combination has aspects of a benefic such as Jupiter, the native will know before what good things are about to happen. If Mars or some other malefic aspects the combinations, the native will foresee bad events.

Another thing that I want to mention is that the whole chart must be seen holistically, for example, even if a person is born on Amawasya, the moon is in better state when exalted in Taurus, specially when Ve is close by. Also, in all the above cases, if Jupiter is giving its beneficial aspects to Moon, then the person will have a very good chance of recovering from the problem. This is far better when Jupiter sits with Moon, specially in the same nakshatra. Devaguru Jupiter always comes to the rescue of Moon! Why? Because Moon is primarily sattvic and Jupiter's main duty is to promote that! Therefor always look out of Jupiter+Moon combination (conjunction, aspect, exchange, square) in one's chart, it is the best combination to have, even if both or one of them are in enemies house! This combinations always promises many things to the native, however weak it is!

Moon and Mental Disorders...5

8. Over confidence - some natives display over confidence too in case of a weak moon, specially  when  moon is accompanied by malefics such as Saturn, Rahu, Ketu or Mars. I have witnessed that even if for such people the yogkarak is Mars, it will still make people overconfident, when it affects the ascendant, ascendant lord, or weak moon. Such people often, in their over confidence, hurt others. They act with haughty nature and even speak words. Such people can be convinced if spoken in soft voice. They are gullible to the extent that if spoken softly will completely change their opinions. But if we try to push our opinions over them with force, they will repel back badly. Such an over confidence and haughty attitude is evident is also visible when a native is born under paap kartari yoga. This yoga is formed when moon has malefics on both its sides, it is hemmed between 2 malefics. In such a case of the moon also lacks the Paksha bal, then the native will also suffer with worse forms of mental illness. The person can also have severe headaches, depression and may be mild epilepsy. The problem aggravates further if there is no benefic aspect, but moon comes directly under the aspect of Rahu, or the enemy of Lagna lord (e.g. Sun is enemy to ascendants - Taurus, Libra, Capricorn, and Aquarius; Venus is bad for Leo, Sagittarius, and Pisces; Jupiter is bad for Taurus and libra; Mercury is bad for Aries, Scorpio, Sagittarius, and Pisces ascendants; Saturn is bad for Aries, Leo and Scorpio ascendants).

9. Headaches and Sinus - whenever Moon combines with Ketu, I have witnessed people suffering with headaches and when Moon is further weakened by being in Aries, Scorpio or with less Paksha bal or in ketu's  nakshatra, the headache will aggravate to sinus problem.  The pain is alleviated when Moon is in conjunction with/ aspected by Jupiter.

Moon and Mental Disorders...4

6. Inactive social life - when moon is all alone in a house with no aspects from benefics such as Jupiter, Venus or Mercury or they are not in the same house as Moon or adjacent to it, then people will have a weak social life. There is some compensation if the Moon has aspect from the strong Lagna lord or is in conjunction with/ aspects from the yogkarak planet (e.g. Mars is yogkarak for Cancer and Leo ascendants, Venus is yogkarak for Capricorn and Aquarius ascendants & Saturn is yogkarak for Taurus and Libra ascendants). Such people will also feel lonely at times and sometimes feel bereft of luck.

7. Unnecessary fear - this happens specifically when moon is weak in Paksha bal and has aspects from Rahu or Saturn or both. Such natives will fear from the unknown. Depending upon the position of moon, that house will be affected. For example - if moon is present in 10th house with an aspect from Rahu or Saturn, the person will have fears related to workplace. If Rahu is too bad then the native will have hidden enemies at workplace.

Moon and Mental Disorders...3

3. Inferiority Complex - A weak moon gives this too, specially if the person is born on Amawasya! The people who are born on the new moon day or Amawasya have an unnecessary inferiority complex. They might be good in their fields but still they will fear to speak out their opinions. The birth on new moon day is also considered inauspicious because the moon, which is the naturally signifies of mind and luck is devoid of strength being very close to Sun. Unless this combination has Jupiter also in the same or adjacent house, it certainly does  give the native some mind related problems.

4. Being a wimp - When Moon is too weak in Paksha Bal, the native will tend to be a wimp, someone who cries easily. This happens also when Venus is close to the Moon and Jupiter's aspect is weak. Such a person worries easily and will be under great stress if the Moon is under aspect of/conjunction with Rahu and/or Venus is close by.

5. Anxiety and nervousness - I have seen that natives who have a weak moon (such that it is very close to Sun &  hence lacking in Paksha  bal) to suffer with some kind of anxiety and depression. Such people need someone close to them to pacify them. The depression can aggravate if following are also true:-

a) the native has taken birth between 10th tithi of Krishna Paksha to 5th tithi of Shukla Paksha.
b) the weak moon is present in Aries or Scorpio.
c) the weak moon is present in nakshatra of Ketu, ie, Magha, Ashwini, or Mool. Of the three Mool has worst affect.
d) weak moon is accompanied only by Venus. In such a case the native will be overly emotional and she will probably have several heart aches in life.
All the above people will also be bad in terms of social life and also public speaking, unless the Sun is strong.
