Results of a Mahadasha

Everyone at anytime is running a mahadasha, or major period of a planet and may be about to start a mahadasha of another planet. It is not easy to judge what results a coming mahadasha can bestow a native. First let us look at the total time periods of all mahadashas:

When a child is born, she is actually running a mahadasha of some planet. A mahadasha is further divided into antadasha (sub-period) and pratyantardasha(sub-sub period) periods of planets.While judging a mahadasha we must consider the following:
1. The position of planet (house and rashi) in D1.
2. The position of planet (house and rashi) in D9 (helps in understanding judging the happiness/satisfaction from one's partner and spiritual propensity)
3. The position of planet (house and rashi) in D10 (when judging the career during the mahadasha)
4. The position of planet (house and rashi) in D3 (when judging happiness/satisfaction in general.
5. The position of planet (house and rashi) in D60 (the chart of previous life and sanchit karma)
6. Whether the planet is friendly to ascendant or not.
7. One thing could be very important is Mahadasha of Naksthatra ascendant. If you are going through or started the mahadasha of planet of nakshatra lord under which you are born, then it could be a life changing mahadasha. It can bring in the 'Self-Realization' phase in your life. For example someone born under ascendant of Sun (Leo) might have ascendant nakshatra as Magha (ruled by Ketu), Purva Phalguni (ruled by Venus) or Uttara Phalguni (Sun). Hence, if the person has Leo ascendant and Magha as ascendant Nakshtra, then the mahadasha of Ketu will be mahadasha of greater change in life, leadering to movement towards higher goals indicated by Ketu, such as emancipation.

Obviously, if a planet is in its highest position in any of the charts then it will give better than average results. But, it may happen that a planet is exalted in D1, but debilitated in D9 or D60. Then it means that the mahadasha will not give that good results.I had read that in general a mahadasha lord if enemy of ascendant lord will give bad results, specially if badly placed. But, I have witnessed that if the same planet was well placed in D60 (in center in own house) gave good results.Also, the planets give results as per their intrinsic nature.
1. Jupiter, Venus, brigher Moon (Moon in shukla paksha) and non-afflicted Mercury being a beneficial planets, will give good results as per their placement.
2. Sun, Saturn, Mars, Rahu, Ketu tend to give some struggles to native due to their intrinsic malefic character.
Also, if any of these planets are with one or more benefics, their strength to give good results increases. On the similar lines, if the mahadasha lord is with a malefic planet, its tendency to give bad results/struggles increases. If a planet is giving a Rajyoga (Neecha bhang rajyoga, Viparit rajyoga, Mahalakshmi yog etc.) in D1 chart, and is present in D10 chart with a malefic in 10th house, the native is destined to rise further in her career, but after a lot of struggle. 

The struggle is alleviated, if the planet is with a benefic. Also, the planet's location gives its major results. Examples:
1. A mahadasha of planet located in 12th house will give results with respect to the 12th house significations and the houses the planet rules. Mars in Leo for Virgo ascendant, will give results with respect significations of 12th house, 3rd house (Scorpio) and 8th house (Aries).
2. Mars in Virgo for Aquarius ascendant will give results primarily with respect to 8th house, 3rd house (Aries) and 10th house (Scorpio).

Again, while judging we must consider associations, aspects and exchanges and various divisional charts when judging the mahadasha.A small note on how to judge an antardasha - In general consider, the location of antardasha planet with respect to mahadasha planet. If the antardasha planet is in center (located 1,4,7,10) or kona (1,5,9) with respect to mahadasha planet, then the antardasha planet will give good results. While on the whole mahadasha lord will keep focus on houses it rules and where it sits, for smaller periods (antardasha planet) the focus will accordingly shift to houses rules by antardasha planets and where they sit.For more details on houses see the following links.

So, coming to the nature of spouse. If the master of seventh house (Leo) in your D9 chart is Sun, then in that case your spouse will be authoritative. Your spouse will display properties bestowed by Sun, specially after marriage (that is the time when he/she starts affecting your life and vice versa). 

If your 7th house in D9 is Aries or Scorpio, in that case, your spouse will be someone interested in outdoor activities/sports etc. Even if he/she have been an indoor person till now, suddenly your involvement with him/her will give him interest in Martian activities. Magic right? It happens. 

Now, how lucky you will be for your spouse? For boys, again Venus is the main guy besides the 7th house of D9. For a girl it will Mars/Jupiter or both. So, if in the above case in Scorpio, Mars is also sitting their (in a girl's chart), then Mars is pretty strong in D9 and the girl will prove to be lucky for her husband. The person (her husband) will be very secretive (may be with secret affairs( and he will become more secretive after marriage. 

If the Mars is in Cancer, hence debilitated, the girl's husband will become too much of homebound and under the strong influence of his own mother. Hence, the master of 7th house in D9 chart must always be strong and well placed in a girl's chart (for her to be lucky for her husband) and also in boy's chart (for him to be lucky for his wife). 

Please note that 7th house in D9 chart indicates only the first serious affair/marriage in your life. For subsequent ones the equation changes.

Special Aspects of Outer Planets...2

Coming back to special aspects. Well following holds true for Mars:

Mars aspects the fourth and the eighth house from its location besides the first and seventh. In that case, Mars will influence planets located in 1st, 4th, 7th and 8th houses and also the activities of that house, specially during its major/minor period and during transits through those houses. The below diagram can help you understand this concept better:

As you can see, Mars is present in house 1, numbered 8 because the ascendant is Scorpio. Hence it will influence all houses and planets in Scorpio (8), Aquarius (11), Taurus (7) and Gemini (3). We must also know that depending upon the sign the planet aspects, it aspects will be inimical or friendly. In the above example, Mars will actually negatively influence the first house positively (since it is the master of Scorpio), while it will mostly negative influence the other houses (4,7,8) since it is enemy to Saturn (Lord of 4th), Venus (Lord of 7th) and Mercury (Lord of 8th), unless otherwise influenced by any other planet. So, if you have above configuration in your chart (Mars located in first house in Scorpio), then during Mars major/minor period you can see positive influence with respect to your personality (indicated by first house) but negatively with respect to your Mother and Spouse (indicated by 4th and 7th house) and may be interest in occult (indicated by 8th house). One thing to keep in mind is that, even though Mars is influencing these houses and planets situated herein, the final result still lies with master of that house. So, in all above example, Saturn, Venus and Mercury are the final judge in giving you what you deserve. Actually, Mars might not be able to give its negative result if these planets are well placed!

The Houses of your Vedic chart...ascendant...2

The ascendant is considered most important house in a birth chart. The strength of ascendant and its Lord is considered utmost important when determining general success in life. A person with strong ascendant will be bold and very strong in keeping his opinions/views etc. If the ascendant lord is exalted or in own house the person will be strong physically. He will have success depending upon location of ascendant lord.

In general the ascendant signifies the following:

1. Your physical existence or your body. 

2. Your will power.

3. Your physical strength.

4. Your physical beauty.

5. Your head and hair. 
6. Brain, appearance, skin, sleep, longevity
7. Freedom from ill-health, longevity and old age
8. Ability to perform work

The ascendant must be considered a temple and hence the planets present in it must be considered deities of the temple. An inimical planet (planet that is malefic for the Lagna) must, preferably be not present in the ascendant. Following is the list of planets that are ascendants and the planets that are malefics/benefics to it:

The planets that are present in ascendant will deliver their properties to the ascendant and hence influence the  native. For example, presence the Venus in ascendant will always make a native lover of beauty in general and also give the native a bent towards arts, similarly, Saturn will make native pessimistic and Sun will always keep the native in limelight. Hence, while judging a chart we must keep in mind these factors, besides the above malefic/benefic planets. 

Marriage and its Stability...1

Even though the subject says about stability, I will write also about the combinations of successful and happy marriages. It does not matter whether whether you had a love marriage or an arranged marriage, you can seek happiness in your marriage/relationship, because everyone deserves to be happy. All relationships have problems, mainly because there are two individuals involved, with two opinions on a single point of attention, so it is normal to have problems in married life, but finally something which can help you is your faith in each other and also, love for each other!

I am not going to talk about separation here!

Now percolating down to combinations which give a stable and happy marriage; they are as follows:

1. The strength of master of Lord of 7th house is biggest determiner as far as happiness in marriage is considered. 

2. If the master of 7th house is weak, in an enemy's house, under influence of malefic planets, definitely, you are going to see problems in your relationships in general, specially in love relationships.

3. If the master of 7th house is in 6th house (12th from 7th) or in 12th house, then it will bring at least some loss in your married life. 

Combinations of Arranged Marriages...2

4. Mostly, an arranged marriage happens when the Lord of ascendant does not have any relationship with Lord of 7th house. This actually means that they must not be together in single house, must not aspect each other mutually, and must not be in exchange (which means that Lord of ascendant in 7th house and Lord of 7th house in ascendant). 

5. When the lord of the ascendant is in 9th house, lord of 9th house is in 10th house with 10th lord  and the 7th lord in 11th house then an arranged marriage takes place.

6. If lord of the ascendant is in 6th house in an exalted state and the lord of 6th house is in ascendant with the lord of 10th house then also an arranged marriage takes place for the native.

7. All the combinations must also be checked with D9 chart too.

Combinations of Arranged Marriages...1

Now, since I have addressed this with so much of sincerity, methinks I must also address the combinations of Arranged Marriages too, which are still quite prevalent too, specially in India! So, with the marriage season on, and the new year commencing, here I go...

Also, note one more thing, even if you have got a very good partner in your love marriage, the factors on which the stability and happiness of individuals in the marriage depends on, they are completely different from the factors (or planets) which influence your marriage. This is one basic reason people complain that after marriage - 'you have changed'. I will write on that in later post.

1. None of the combinations in the above 4 posts must exist, sans the romance part, when your Venus aspects the 5th house or 11th house house of your chart! It only gives you temporary romance, unless supported by master of 7th, which can convert the relationship into love marriage! 

2. As said in the above posts, it is the master of 7th house which has the final say in your marriage prospects. We must also consider the lordship of 7th house of your D9 (Navamsha) chart. 

3. If the Lord of 7th house is in 3rd house, 6th house, 10th house, 11th house or ascendant,  then an arranged marriage takes place.

Combinations for Love Marriage...4

14. Whenever Venus comes in your 5th house or aspects 5th house, you will have romantic outings with someone. Here I am talking about Venus in transit.

15. Moon also signifies romance (the word 'lunatic'). If Moon is also good along with Venus, the relationship will lead to marriage. The person will be capable of writing romantic poetry.

16. If Jupiter is involved along with Venus through exchange/conjunction etc., the person will be an ideal lover. If Jupiter is too strong, then he/she will expect his/her partner to be ideal too.

17. If Venus as the master of 5th, 7th or 11th is in exchange with master of 5th, 7th or 11th, the relationship will consummate in love marriage. In such a case ascendant must also be strong and unaffiliated with any malefic.

18. Benefic planets in 5th or 7th house and their lord in relation with strong Venus (exchange/conjunction/aspect) is the key for a successful love marriage.

19. Also, if Jupiter aspects Venus, the person will be an ideal lover. If the 7th house is also involved, the relationship will lead to marriage.

20. In all the above cases ascendant lord must be strong. If it is strong enough the native will have the strength to propose to his/her love. If a strong Mars is also involved, the native will be capable of demonstrating love in public. If Sun is also involved and positive, the native will be able to say out his/her love loud. 

Combinations for Love Marriage...3

9. If Venus is present in ascendant along with the master of ascendant, love marriage is inevitable. Again, it is preferable that Venus is friend of ascendant (for example Gemini, Virgo, Capricorn, Aquarius). The person will someone loving at an early age and the relationship will go up to marriage.

10. If Moon is present in Taurus, Scorpio, Capricorn or Pisces, along with Venus, master of 7th or ascendant, the relationship can lead to marriage. 

11. When Jupiter is involved in the above factors, the marriage partner will belong to your own community.

12. When Rahu/Saturn is/are involved in the above factors, the marriage partner will be outside of your community.

13. If the ascendant lord is under the aspect of lord of 7th, your partner will love you a lot, will respect you for what you are and encourage you in everything that you undertake. Also, he/she will play an influencing role in your life.

Combinations for Love Marriage...2

4. When Venus sits in the first house, the native gets lot of attention from the people of opposite gender. In such a case, if Venus is a friend to the ascendant, there is a good chance that the relationship will culminate in marriage, otherwise, if Venus is enemy of the ascendant, then there might be several long and short relationships, which will just cause mental turmoil and go no where. 

5. When Venus is placed along with Moon or is present in the 5th house from the Moon, a relationship can culminate in marriage.

6. If the Venus as lord of 5th is in exchange/aspect with 3rd house along with a relationship between ascendant and master of 7th, the romantic relationship will lead to marriage.

7. If the Lord of 7th and ascendant are in a relationship by aspect/exchange/conjunction etc., the relationship will lead to marriage. Venus must also support this.

8. If the master of 7th sits in 5th house, there is a possibility of love marriage.

Combinations for Love Marriage...1

I know this is quite an interesting topic to discuss. Many people who are in an affair/relationship would like to know about their future whether they will be able to get married to the partner of their choice. So here is what I have learnt from different sources. Note that these combinations just indicate a love marriage and do not ensure the marital bliss or stability of marriage there after. That is a further topic and depends on totally different factors.

1. Overall the benefics (Moon, Venus, Mercury and Jupiter) must be well placed. Atleast one of these must be well placed, preferably in center (houses 1,4,7,10) or corner (1,5,9). The Lord of the ascendant must also be strong.

2. Venus naturally signifies Love and Relationship. If it is the master of 5th house (the house of romance), it will give you a romantic nature and a good chance to indulge in romance in your life. 

3. If the Venus as the master of 5th house is present in 7th house, your romantic relationship will culminate in marriage, specially if master of 7th house is under aspect of/in conjunction with Venus.

Update on Venus

It is very important for girls to have a good Ve, because if they a Ve under aspect of a malefic such as Ma, bad Sa, Ra or Su (enemy of Ve), they can have problems related to female hormones, and can develop female problems and also problems related to child bearing. Also, the position and strength of 5th house is important in that concern.

One thing more which can be done is to have sabudana (sago seeds) preparation with makhane (Euryale ferox), mishri (a form of crystalline sugar)  and milk. Sabudana khichdi is considered very important for to be mothers. Google 'sabudana in pregnancy' and have a look at the results. Hence, the above preparation is very important for all girls to have.

8. For guys who have a weak Ve and they want a good wife in their life they must chant the 24th verse of Argala Stotram 108 times daily starting from Navratra.

9. Girls must avoid wearing clothes which are revealing. They muct be particular about their dressing sense such that their innerwear is not visible. 

10. Dress up and wear sphatik (crystal) necklace with 108 beads. Wear a silver ring (disjointed) in the thumb. 

11. Donate money for temples and spiritual places. Donate milk on fridays to temples or young girls under 8.

12.  Develop a habit to listen to your wife, whatever she says, patiently. Respect her and display your love for her more often. Gift her gifts such as flowers, fragrances, chocolates, white sweets and dresses.

13. Develop good relations with foreigners if possible and also with your in-laws. Sun must be strong too for this. 

14. Wear different types of fragrances as possible, do this specially on Friday.

15. Males must avoid wastage of their Shukra elements, namely sperms and semen. Again, Ve punishes males for this, severely.

16. Try to travel to west in your life, atleast once in your life. West is the direction of Saturn, which is a great friend of Ve, so people with weak Ve are bound to rise in West, since Sa comes to rescue of Ve.

Better Venus, for love and family...

Following must be undertaken to appease Ve:

1. Worship any form of Divine Mother. She can be Maa Sita (Lord Ram's spouse) or Maa Parvati (spouse of Lord Shiv). Maa Lakshmi is also worshipped because she is considered as giver of wealth and prosperity.

2. Chant the 108 names of the Divine Mother, chant the Saptshloki Durga and Argala Stotram regularly, specially during Navratra and Fridays. Offer white sweets to the divine mother. You can also offer dry fruits too. Durga Saptashati (http://www.ambaa.org/pdf/devii_mahatmyam_2.pdf) must be read during Navratra.

3. For guys, respect your mother and wife. This is the first step towards improving your Ve. The more you care for these two females in your life more is comfort in your life. Even if I don't say this you can very much understand how bad your life can be if you fail here. But loving and respecting does not mean to become their slave, if that happens you will weaken Mars, and this is not desired.

4. For guys, respect women in all forms, even the female who deliver household jobs at your home. It is very important for guys because Ve punishes males more than females when guys fail to respect women.

5. Avoid having salt on Fridays. Also, distribute white sweets, fruits to children, specially girls below 8 years of age on Fridays.

6. Learn different types of arts e.g. drawing, stitching, singing etc. Learn to use a musical instrument. Learn to cook. The reason why women do these things easily is that they have such qualities inherenty built in them because of Shukra element in abundance.

7. Wear whites on Fridays. Donate grains on Fridays.

Venus...for love and family!!!

The planet Venus is known as Shukra in Vedic astrology. Sukra means "white", or "bright" in Sanskrit.  Venus is a first rate benefic in Jyotish (predictions). Venus rules over the two sidereal signs of Taurus and Libra. 

Venus is exalted in Pisces and in his fall in the opposite sign of Virgo. Venus is a karaka, or indicator of spouse(for males), love, marriage, comfort, luxury, beauty, prosperity, happiness, all conveyances, art, dance music, acting, healing and the saying of mantras. It also rules the elements necessary for child birth and progeny, namely - desire for companionship, interest in sex and the related organs and activities. The male part which combines to build the basic cell which develops into child is called Shukranu (the sperm or the atom of Shukra).  

Maharishi Parasara says that "Venus is charming, has a splendrous physique, is excellent or great in disposition, has charming eyes, is a poet, is phlegmatic and windy and has curly hair." Venus most  powerful position is in the 4th House and enjoys the Konas - 1, 5, and 9.. 

People who have Venus favorable position, have people from opposite gender flocking around them a lot. If a guy has Ve in first house, he can have several ladies roaming around him. But, for best of the results Ve must be friends to the Main planet. That is the case with Sa and Me and not with other planets. Still, Ve gives a person many artistic talents and the person has an attractive personality.
